


7 Things to do in Forest Grove
Forest Grove, just about 30 miles west of Portland in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range, is a charming small down with a collection of antique shops, tasting restaurants and a lot of history. Whether you’re staying nearby or not, it’s worth a visit to this quaint corner of Oregon’s Tualatin Valley.
1. Hunt for Art
Forest Grove is full of public art, including beautiful murals and sculptures. Use our public art map to scope out works of art, take a selfie in front of the “Oregon is Magic” mural or wander down Main Street to find unique benches, including a new musical bench installed in late 2020.
2. Visit a brewery
Whether you like craft beer or something different, Forest Grove is the place to get a uniquely Oregon brewery experience. Ridgewalker Brewing is known for its hop-forward American style beers. They also have a great menu including chicken wings, hot dogs, burgers and tacos.
3. Go Wine Tasting
You’ll find some of Oregon’s oldest vines at David Hill Winery. The tasting room is a historic farmhouse built in 1883 but the grounds also offer picture-perfect space to enjoy views of the Oregon Coast Range
For a unique experience, visit Oregon’s only saké brewery, Saké One, the leading producer of craft saké in America. Visit the kura for an educational experience and look at how saké is made.
4. Visit the Farmers Market
The Forest Grove Farmers Market is small but mighty. Wednesday nights from May through October, you’ll find downtown Forest Grove transformed by local merchants and farmers. Shop for local produce, baked goods, flowers, hand-crafted soaps and more.
5. Explore the Outdoors
Head to Fernhill Wetlands, a nearly 800-acre site perfect for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike. The water garden bridge offers a great view and short walking trails make it easy to spot wildlife.
6. Experience the Grand Lodge
Whether you’re staying at the McMenamins Grand Lodge or not, you can take advantage of its amenities and bars. The former Mason and Eastern Star lodge is full of whimsical art, historic photos and interesting stories. Try a distillery flight at the Doctors Office Bar or relax on the patio at Pat’s Corner. Feel rejuvenated after a dip in the soaking pool or massage at Ruby’s Spa.
7. Eat Local Cuisine
Forest Grove is home to some of our culinary treasures, like Bites Restaurant, Kafé and Kama’aina Comfort Foods. These local favorites are great options for light bites with a taste of Asian and Pacific Island flavors. The new and growing Zesti Food Carts is also a great new one-stop shop for a variety of choices and a 30-tap outdoor bar.
Ride along this 36-mile loop, where you will encounter breweries, wineries, nature…this ride has it all! With some decent mileage and elevation gain there are plenty of places to stop and take it all in.
