July 14-16 is one of those magical times when Tualatin Valley becomes extra vibrant with an abundance of events. Celebrate the middle of summer at one (or more) of these events this weekend. 

greater portland events robin hood festivalSherwood’s Robin Hood Festival

Hear ye, hear ye! It’s time for the Sherwood Robin Hood Festival (July 14-15, times vary)! Old Town Sherwood transforms itself into a picturesque Renaissance village for this annual event. Meet Maid Marian and her Court, as well as the dashing Robin Hood. The merriment includes live music from popular modern-day bands from the Portland area, a Vendor Village with great shopping, a knighting ceremony and more. Admission is free.

The 2nd annual Tigard Music Fest (July 14-16, times vary) returns to downtown Tigard. Three Stages, three days, 21 performances and FREE Admission! The fest kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on July 14th. International performers and hometown favorites are scheduled to play the three-day event.

The Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance Weekend (July 15-16) has a host of events this weekend. On Saturday, watch as classic cars roll down Forest Grove’s Main Street in a Parade of Cars (free). Sunday is the main event–the Concours d’Elegance–where more than 300 classic and modified cars on the tree-shaded campus of Pacific University.

La Strada dei Pastelli in downtown Hillsboro

Professional chalk artists take to the streets for the annual La Strada dei Pastelli Chalk Art Festival (July 15-16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).  This summer festival features a window into the creative process where festival goers can engage with nationally-recognized and emerging visual artists as they carefully create colorful chalk art drawings down the center of the street. Admission is free.

The M&M Marketplace El Sol Festival (July 15, 4-7 p.m.) returns for its second year. This free festival presents dance and music from around the globe combined with the fantastic food and welcoming atmosphere at M&M Marketplace, El Sol truly has something for everyone. M&M owner and festival producer, Jaime Miranda created El Sol to promote cultural exchange and create a fun, inclusive experiences for all-ages audiences. This festival takes place every Saturday through August 12th.
