What’s New to See and Do in 2022?

Tualatin Valley is an ever-changing and growing destination. Throughout the destination, there are new wines, foods and trails to explore.

New Wineries & Tasting Rooms

Amaterra Wines (now open) is a brand-new winery located in the West Hills (also known as the Tualatin Mountains) that separate Portland from the Tualatin Valley. This exciting new state-of-the-art facility, situated in the Tualatin Hills AVA, will be the closest estate winery to downtown Portland. In addition to a tasting room, Amaterra will have an on-site restaurant featuring a full menu of locally sourced ingredients and will be the first winery restaurant experience in Tualatin Valley.

Sidereus Vineyard and Winery (now open) is a new boutique winery located in the farming community of Cornelius, Oregon, and situated in the Laurelwood District American Viticultural Area (AVA) of the Willamette Valley. The estate-grown vineyards produce Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Riesling.

Benza Vineyards (now open), which has been growing wine grapes in Hillsboro since the early 2000s and producing wine for many vintages, opened its first tasting room. Also located in the Laurelwood District AVA, Benza crafts Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rose and sparkling wines from its LIVE-certified, 12-acre estate vineyard.

Carpenter Creek Winery and Farm (now open), located at the base of Oregon’s Coast Range, is a 25-acre farm, complete with a herd of Tennessee Walking horses. Carpenter Creek produces a variety of wines, including Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Malbec and Syrah. The winery is open for outdoor patio or indoor seating in the rustic, cozy tasting room.

New Breweries

Steeplejack Brewing, which recently opened in an historic church in Portland, opened a third location in Hillsboro. The new Hillsboro location is the home of a taproom, beer garden and kitchen, as well as a small production brewery and canning line.

Binary Brewing opened its own stand-along brick-and-mortar brewery in downtown Beaverton. Binary produces a variety of brews, including a West Coast IPA, Kolsch, Hazy IPA, Pale Ale and more at its new brewing facility.

New Attractions

Also open, Chehalem Ridge Nature Park (now open) is a 1,250-acre nature park with 10 miles of trails, including three miles of accessible trails, for walking, off-road cycling and horseback riding. The Park is home to multiple habitats, including upland forests, oak woodlands and wetlands.

OPENING IN MID-2022: After more than a decade of planning and preservation, Wapato Lake National Wildlife Refuge is soon to be open to the public. This new national refuge, located in Gaston, Ore., features hiking trails and six hunting blinds.

New Restaurants

Beaverton’s “Restaurant Row” continues to flourish with the addition of several new eateries over the past couple years. The following restaurants and taprooms, each with loyal followings in Portland have expanded to downtown Beaverton:

New Hotels

AC Portland Beaverton
The new AC Portland Beaverton brings a new level of modern comfort to the Beaverton area. Guest rooms were designed for style and comfort, and are purposefully designed so guests can use the space however they see fit. Rooms include upscale amenities and include complimentary high-speed Internet and free WiFi throughout the hotel.

Home2Suites Hillsboro
Located in the Tanasbourne area, Home2Suites Hillsboro is a 153-suite hotel featuring spacious rooms, free WiFi, fitness center, indoor pool and more. The hotel is conveniently situated off Highway 26 and is close to retail, restaurants and many of Tualatin Valley’s best-loved attractions.

Element by Westin Beaverton
The new Element by Westin Portland Beaverton is a modern hotel designed for short and long-term stays. Nature-inspired spaces, in-room kitchens, spa-inspired bathrooms and other eco-friendly touches throughout the property provide a welcoming and relaxing stay. To enhance your stay, Element’s “Bikes to Borrow” program provides bikes designed by Priority Bicycles to explore the area.

Hyatt House Beaverton
Hyatt House Beaverton boasts 125 rooms, including 25 suites will fully equipped kitchens. Located in the heart of Beaverton, within walking distance to many of Beaverton’s best restaurants and food carts, the hotel is just steps away from the MAX light rail and is close to shopping, outdoor recreation and more.

Coming Soon!

The following have announced new locations opening in 2022-2023:

  • Breakside Brewing announced its new venture in Historic Downtown Beaverton (12680 SW Farmington Road, Beaverton): A German-style beer garden complete with an outdoor bar, 200 outdoor seats, six food trucks, fire pits, lawn games and live music.
  • Cedartree Hotel is one of six new hotels slated to open in Tualatin Valley in 2021-2022. This unique hotel property, located in Hillsboro, will bring a Japanese-style experience with a saké bar, outdoor Onsen (soaking pool), as well as other amenities including an on-site restaurant.
  • Stickman Brewing Company, which has a beer hall in the city of Tualatin, announced the opening of its third location (the second in Tualatin Valley) in the Cedar Mill neighborhood. The new, family-friendly location will also offer a full Italian-inspired coffee bar experience.
